About Gracie Jiu Jitsu Keego Harbor

In 1925, Carlos Gracie, "1st generation" opened the first Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Brazil. In 1978, Rorion Gracie, "2nd generation" of Carlos’s brother Helio Gracie, brought Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to America! Over ten years later, in 1989 Rorion opened the first ever Gracie Academy on American soil in Torrance, California. In 2013, Don Cook all the way from the northern region of the mid-west started training and teaching directly with 2nd and 3rd generation Gracie family members at the Gracie Academy. Shortly after, Don established Metropolis Jiu-Jitsu Academy, the 1st certified training center (CTC) in Oakland County, Michigan, and the 2nd CTC in Michigan, with the intent on sharing practical, simple, and effective self-defense in an environment that is fun and safe for all! -
